Stampin Up party (Week 8: February 17-23)

Dainan's co-worker invited us to a Stampin Up party at her house. We made a sample card and candy holder. Dainan made his card a manly blue color instead of pink. :) I used to make cards with rubber stamps when I was in high school so it was fun to make some again. I bought a set of stamps and punches so I will post my future attempts at cards here.

Happy Valentine's Day (Week 7: February 10-16)

Happy Valentine's Day!!! Dainan and I went to Paesano's Italian Restaurant to celebrate Valentine's day. We went on Friday night to avoid the crowds and have a nice dinner at the end of the work week. This restaurant is cute and quaint with really nice paintings on the wall so it was perfect.
Here is our delicious food...Yum!
 Shrimp and Scallop Pasta
Tri tip steak and shrimp scampi

Happy Chinese New Year! (Week 6: February 3-9)

Gung hee fat choy!

Today is the Chinese New Year (based on a lunar calendar) so to celebrate, last night Romney and I went to eat at Maple Garden, just down the road from where we live. Everyone in town was there but thank goodness we went right when they opened. We didn't have a reservation so they seated us at folding tables they'd thrown up to handle the extra people with Costco folding chairs and we got the buffet for $17/person. As we were finishing up, the place was almost full and they were only letting people in that had reservations.

Anyway, the food was great!

Salt and pepper shrimp with chow fun noodles

Dry fry chicken and chow mein

Garlic scampi and Kung Pao chicken

Steamed fish fillet and beef broccoli

Dessert: almond jello and strawberry jello

Punahou Carnival (Week 5: January 27-February 2)

Every year Punahou Schools, a private elementary/middle/high school puts on a huge carnival on the first Saturday of February. Most years it's rainy but this year was beautiful. We went to a friend's house and had a barbecue with them and then the group of us walked over to the carnival and enjoyed playing games and eating malasadas. Here are some pictures from across the street and on the top of a 13-story building.

Here we are playing games. Several of us won something. I got a stuffed Hello Kitty toy that I gave to Romney. I figured it wasn't wise to let everyone know of my personal fetish for Hello Kitty. :)

Another beautiful rainbow (Week 4: January 20-26)

Not having done much this week, this is the only photo I took. It was from the windows in the Archives, looking out over UH's grounds. Winter brings a lot of rain mixed with sunshine, which is a perfect recipe for rainbows. (Sorry, the windows were a bit dirty!)
